More than a reading — a real conversation.
Each Author Spotlight is hosted live and limited in size to keep the discussion intimate. We open with the author's story, move into a guided dialogue around the book's themes, then turn the floor over to members for unscripted Q&A. Sessions are recorded for members who can't join live.

What to expect on the night
Every Author Spotlight follows a relaxed, conversation-first format. Here's how a 60-minute session usually unfolds.

0–10 min · Welcome
Host opens the room, introduces the book, and shares a quick member roll-call from around the world.
- 2
10–25 min · Author's Story
The featured author shares their journey — what sparked the book, what almost killed it, what surprised them.
- 3
25–45 min · Guided Discussion
Curated questions on themes, craft, and the bigger ideas behind the work — with members invited to chime in.
- 4
45–60 min · Open Q&A
The floor opens to readers. Unscripted, sometimes emotional, always memorable. Recording stops here for off-record close.
Our House Rules
How we keep the room thoughtful
Read with respect
Disagree with ideas, never with people. We protect the room as much as we celebrate the book.
No spoilers without warning
Major plot reveals are flagged in advance so members joining mid-read can opt in.
Cameras encouraged, not required
Show up however you're comfortable. Many of our most active members never turn on video.
Members speak first
We prioritize member questions over guest hosts during Q&A. Your read matters most.
Authors are guests, not performers
We don't expect entertainment — we expect honesty. Authors are welcomed as collaborators in the conversation.
Everything stays in the room
What's shared off-record stays off-record. Recordings are edited to honor that promise.

Events FAQ
Do I need to finish the book before attending?
No. Many members join spotlights without having finished — we keep major spoilers flagged and the conversation accessible to all readers.
How do I get the event link?
Member event links are sent via our newsletter the day before each spotlight, with a reminder one hour before the session begins.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes. Spotlights are member-only, but bringing one guest is always welcome. We just ask that they sign up to the newsletter so we can save them a seat.
Are events recorded?
Yes — the main session is recorded and shared with members within 48 hours. Off-record Q&A portions are not recorded, by request.
