Melisande Corlett is an accomplished Afro-Caribbean author whose passion for storytelling has grown alongside her academic achievements and commitment to empowering others.

A graduate of Norfolk State University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in English and Mass Communications, Corlett combines literary craftsmanship with a deep understanding of communication and human connection.

Her debut novel, Before the Sunrise, published in 2025, quickly established her as an emerging voice in young adult fiction. The novel did not begin as an ambitious publishing project. It began in a high school classroom — as a tenth-grade creative writing assignment for Mr. Walker, where the earliest version of the story first came to life.

Years later, while studying Young Adult Literature under Dr. Williams at Norfolk State University, the story evolved once again, becoming a college final project.
